Host Cities

Host the World Championship.

Kite Wars moves. Each edition is awarded to a city whose government wants an international sporting event with a cultural story attached — and which can authorize the format safely. This page is for ministries, tourism boards and venue authorities.

Selection

How host cities are selected

Every candidate host city is evaluated against a common set of championship standards. Each host must demonstrate its ability to provide a safe, accessible and memorable experience for competitors and visitors alike.

01
Safety & Legal Authorization
Written confirmation that championship activities may be conducted safely within a permitted competition venue.
02
Championship Venue
An open field with dependable wind conditions, sufficient space for competition lanes, spectator viewing and event operations.
03
Travel & Hospitality
Affordable accommodations, transportation and practical access for international competitors and visitors.
04
Government Partnership
A committed partner within tourism, culture or sport who supports hosting the championship and welcoming international guests.
What a host receives

The case for the ministry

A founding-edition host is named in every future edition's history, in every language the championship publishes in. There is no second first host.

Four days of international attention
Competitors, families and press from every country that sends a competitor, staying in local rooms and eating at local tables.
A six-language broadcast
Every lane camera and the finals carried in English, French, Kreyòl, Spanish, Romanian and Portuguese, with the host city named throughout.
A cultural program, not just a sport
The Food Village, Marketplace and Kids Zone are built with local vendors, makers and schools.
Naming in perpetuity
The founding host is recorded permanently in the Hall of Founders and on the Razor Cup.
No venue construction
Kite Wars needs a field, power, water and access roads. There is nothing to build and nothing left behind.
A published economic model
Visitor numbers, spend estimates and the audited outcome are shared with the host authority.
The process

Five stages from enquiry to announcement

1
Enquiry
A ministry, tourism board or venue authority makes contact and receives the operations dossier.
2
Feasibility
We review candidate sites, wind records, access and the legal position on the competition format.
3
Authorization
The host secures written confirmation that the format may be run safely in a permitted venue. This is the gate.
4
Host agreement
Responsibilities, costs, safety regime, insurance and cultural program are signed by both parties.
5
Announcement
The city is named publicly, travel packages open and registration moves to its next pricing phase.
