A fenced field of its own, upwind and well away from the bladed lanes: build a kite in the morning, learn to fly it by lunch, and race it in a junior heat before the finals. Free for every child on a spectator ticket.

Mini kite workshops
Paper, palm rib and thread on a low bench, with a builder showing the bow, the bridle and the tail knot.

Flying lessons
Launching, reading wind, giving and taking line — taught on the youth field by coaches who compete themselves.
Ages 6+ · 30 minutes · kites provided

Art station
Paint your own cover face, or work on the long mural that grows across the fence over the four days.

Junior competitions
Blunted-tail heats judged on height, control and staying airborne — and the finder keeps any kite that lands.

Build it, fly it, race it — before the finals start

The same rhythm every day, so families can drop in whenever they arrive. Nothing needs booking except the junior competition.

Junior competitions

No blades. Still a championship.

Junior heats are flown with blunted tails and judged on height, control and staying up — plus the part every Haitian child already knows: when a kite comes down, the finder keeps it.

Safety and supervision

The Kids Zone is the only part of the site with no blade on it

It sits upwind of every competition lane and outside the recovery zone, fenced, with one supervised entrance. Parents stay on site; this is not a drop-off crèche.
